In a season of neon’s and flowers, Reem Acra’s show was a welcome change. Known for evening looks, the designer did not disappoint with a powerful line of black and metallic gowns fit for the most glamorous of red carpets.

A favorite of stars like Olivia Wilde, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Swift, it’s almost certain that we’ll all be seeing these dresses at awards shows and movie premieres in 2014.

Though some of her most well known styles have been white, including the dress Stewart wore to the Academy Awards last year, this season’s most stunning looks were actually black. Sheer shirts with very well placed sequin detailing pushed the looks to the limit, but also perfectly linked to the metallic looks that followed. Gold lame single strap ball gowns were worthy of an Oscar and the silver ones that followed were far from second place.

Dramatic teased hair and highlighted makeup gave the whole collection a 1970s disco feel but the silhouettes were sleek and modern. Cutouts continue to be a trend but the varied necklines were a true standout in tailoring. Acra remains the queen of the red carpet diva for certain.
