The weather is turning colder and women around the world are breaking out their trench coats and knee-high boots to keep warm.

So it’s the perfect time for a little spring fashion preview to keep everyone cozy until next year’s warmer months! Stella Nolasco had a SS16 collection that will do this with inspirational ease. Not only did the line showcase the pastels and lighter fabrics that fashionistas have come to expect from spring/summer collections but Nolasco also provided a few perfect looks for these first few weeks of autumn.

The show began with bright, tribal patterns that wouldn’t be out of place on a tropical island with more feminine details like fringe and lace before moving to tight pencil skirts and even jumpsuits. This structural shift continued throughout the rest of the show, from small architectural details to streamlined looks.

Details like delicate buttons, accentuated shoulders and pinched waists made every look feel deliberate in its fit and fashion, even ball gowns. Nolasco might be more well known for her evening wear looks, but she took that expertise to the next level with this collection. From nude tulle skirts and pastel sequins perfect for SS16 to black lace and peak-a-boo cut outs, Nolasco showed range but maintained continuity all at once. Each look was fun and fresh, but the stand-out came towards the end of the show with deep v-neck lace up dress covered in tiny sequins and an easy fit that flowed with each step towards the show’s finale.

Then even Nolasco herself was a vision of understated but excellently crafted elegance in her finale gown. A high front slip contrasted with feminine pleating to remind show-goers that even the designers can be models. It’s all about owning your style for this season, next season and beyond.

The Stella Nolasco Spring/Summer 2016 runway show, took place today at New York Fashion Week Venue Pier 59 Studios, featured makeup by Fatima Thomas for MAC Cosmetics, hair by Laurent Dufourg & Jorge Luis for PRIVE Products, styling by Shandi Alexander, casting by Cast Inc/Julia Samersova and shoes by Christian Louboutin.
