When people get hungry for Gummy Bears candy, they don’t often think of a printer as their means of getting it.

But now, Dylan’s Candy on Michigan Avenue has debuted the first 3D Gummy Printer in the United States which provides tasty Gummy Bears for customers. Amazingly, the entire process takes about five minutes.

Chicago is the second city to have the technology of literally printing out your own Gummy Bears, according to Dylan’s Candy General Manager Angie Riski, who was at the recent Chicago 3D opening. The first printer has already been showcased in New York. Riski says you can print anything you want made of Gummy Bear materials which include sugar, cold water, unflavored gelatin and flavored gelatin.
“You can even print your own face,” she says.

According to store employee Kristen, the entire process takes about five minutes. The printer is hidden behind a cash register and looks a little like a large box. Inside are the ingredients which take on any formation that customers might want. The candy can take the form of pictures, or just about any icon. The 3D candy products are FDA approved and pictures cost an affordable $20.

The ubiquitous candy emporium has the exclusive rights to 3D candy printing for one year. Katjes Magic Candy Factory partnered with Dylan’s to bring these edible, customizable sweet treats to select stores in May and everywhere online at DylansCandyBar.com in early June. Dylan’s candy began in 2001, when Dylan Lauren (daughter of designer Ralph Lauren) pioneered creating the world’s largest confectionery emporium and lifestyle brand, Dylan’s Candy Bar. According to the store’s website, by merging the worlds of art, fashion and pop culture with candy, Dylan’s Candy Bar has innovated the way we see candy today. With a mission to awaken the creative spirit and inner child in everyone, Dylan’s Candy Bar surrounds customers with the most imaginative, state-of-the-art decor and product mix.

This candy store is worldwide and has literally everything. Its pop art installations—such as an oversized lollipop tree, candy cane columns, dripping chocolate shelves, kaleidoscopic candy wallpaper and candy-embedded staircases are unique and different. It’s not just a candy bar for kids it’s for everyone.

Dylan’s Candy Bar houses over 7,000 confections, boasting the largest, unparalleled selection of candies and candy-related gifts from around the world. It is a museum of candy where each piece is literally curated like precious art. The whimsical displays highlight the vibrant colors, textures, eye-popping graphics, creative packaging, gorgeous patterns and distinctive shapes of candy. Dylan’s Candy Bar is the launching pad for new candy innovations and one-of-a kind items.
